When the war's done and the horde is gone, there's also a sweet embrace between Negan and Lydia, who has come to accept him as a father of sorts. He baits the leader into a fight, but just when Negna's overpowered, being knocked over by stray walkers, Daryl saves the day and kills Beta.Īs both men head off, one can tell there's a sense of respect there and a growing trust. She wants to stay and help, though, and while it seems like Negan himself is torn between helping out and abandoning ship, he does turn up in the horde, calling Beta out.
Daryl eventually takes a crew out and with a loudspeaker, they intend to draw the horde off a cliff, but as the fracas ensues outside the Tower, Negan has a heart-to-heart with Lydia, telling her now is not a bad time for her to cut and run. However, the Season 10 finale finds Negan trying to avoid disguising himself as a walker because he thinks it'll draw the attention of Whisperers embedded in the horde who might recognize him after he infiltrated their ranks. But since he's been back, it's the same old treatment, with Daryl chiding him for going rogue and endangering everyone when he could have just declined Carol's offer.
As tensions flared and that thirst for revenge permeated, though, Carol deployed him without anyone's approval, leading to him bringing her Alpha's head. After Rick's "death," Negan found life even harder, with only Judith and Michonne believing he could turn his life around.
